Sikorsky Innovations Introduces X2 TechnologyTM Light Tactical Helicopter Simulator


21 July 2010, STRATFORD, Connecticut -- Sikorsky Innovations, the technology development organization of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., has unveiled an X2 TechnologyTM Light Tactical Helicopter (LTH) simulator that will provide potential customers with a tangible experience of the significant benefits of X2 Technology. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

X2 Technology combines an integrated suite of technologies to advance the state-of-the-art, counter-rotating coaxial rotor helicopter. It is designed to demonstrate that a helicopter can cruise comfortably at 250 knots while retaining such desirable attributes as excellent low-speed handling, efficient hovering, and a seamless and simple transition to high speed. Sikorsky introduced the X2 Technology demonstrator in 2005, and the program has been steadily progressing through flight testing with the goal of achieving the 250-knot speed later this year.

Among the innovative technologies the X2 Technology demonstrator employs are fly-by-wire flight controls, counter-rotating rigid rotor blades, hub drag reduction, active vibration control, and an integrated auxiliary propulsion system.

“The X2 LTH simulator will demonstrate the military application of the capabilities that we are proving out with our X2 Technology demonstrator,” said Teresa Carleton, Vice President, Mission Systems Integration. “With the simulator, we can fly a light tactical helicopter variation of the X2 Technology demonstrator through various mission scenarios, and demonstrate the advantages of speed, high agility, low acoustic signature, and low vibrations. It will be a tremendous, mobile tool that we can bring to potential customers to give them a ‘hands on’ sense of the flight and mission advantages we are bringing to the aviation landscape.”

As the simulator program progresses, it will be enhanced to allow integration and demonstration of technologies that support advanced mission tactics, manned–unmanned teaming, and the optionally piloted helicopter program that Sikorsky Innovations is developing.

LAPAN Akan Bangun Stasiun Peluncuran Satelit


22 Juli 2010, Bengkulu -- Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional akan membangun stasiun peluncuran satelit di Pulau Enggano, Kecamatan Enggano, Kabupaten Bengkulu Utara.

Rencana itu disampaikan Sekretaris Utama LAPAN Bambang Kusumanto usai menggelar pertemuan dengan Gubernur Bengkulu Agusrin Najamudin di Gedung Daerah, Bengkulu, Kamis.

"Pertemuan hari ini untuk mematangkan rencana pembangunan stasiun peluncuran satelit di Pulau Enggano dan kami membutuhkan dukungan dari pemerintah daerah," katanya kepada wartawan.

Bambang mengatakan untuk tahap pertama akan dilakukan penandatanganan nota kesepakatan antara Pemerintah Provinsi Bengkulu dengan LAPAN pada 2 Agustus di Jakarta.

Selanjutnya, kata dia, akan dibentuk tim untuk melakukan sejumlah kajian dan survei untuk menentukan lokasi pembangunan stasiun peluncuran.

"Kami akan membuat studi kelayakan yang membutuhkan waktu enam bulan, kemudian analisis mengenai dampak lingkungan dan diharapkan pada 2011 sudah dimulai pembangunan fisik," katanya.

Selama ini, kata Bambang, LAPAN meluncurkan satelit ke sejumlah orbit melalui stasiun peluncuran Pameungpeuk, Kabupaten Garut, Provinsi Jawa Barat.

Namun kapasitas stasiun peluncuran roket tersebut terbatas seiring dengan peningkatan jumlah penduduk di sekitar lokasi peluncuran sehingga menimbulkan risiko yang lebih besar.

"Stasiun peluncuran di Enggano ini rencananya lebih besar dari kapasitas di Pameungpeuk dan lokasinya juga strategis dan penduduknya masih sedikit," katanya.

Sementara itu Gubernur Bengkulu Agusrin Najamudin menyambut baik rencana LAPAN tersebut karena akan membantu pemerintah dalam mengawasi pulau terluar itu.

"Kami mendukung penuh rencana ini dan akan disosialisasikan kepada masyarakat di Pulau Enggano bahwa keberadaan stasiun peluncuran satelit ini tidak membahayakan jiwa mereka," katanya.

Agusrin mengatakan luas areal yang dibutuhkan untuk membangun stasiun tersebut sekitar 200 hektare (ha) dari 40 ribu ha luas pulau yang berjarak 106 mil dari Kota Bengkulu itu.

Pulau Enggano merupakan salah satu pulau terluar Indonesia yang dihuni lebih dari 2.600 jiwa masyarakat adat yang terbagi dalam lima suku besar yakni Kaitora, Kaahua, Kauno, Kaharuba dan Kaharubi.

Boeing Celebrates Production of 100th CH-47F Chinook

21 July 2010, RIDLEY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] on July 22 will celebrate the 100th CH-47F Chinook helicopter built at the company's Ridley Township facility.

"This is an incredible milestone," said Leanne Caret, Boeing vice president, H-47 Programs. "More than 2,000 Boeing employees work on the Chinook program, and they all share in this exceptional accomplishment with the rest of the company and our partners, suppliers and customers. We are dedicated to delivering aircraft with advanced capability and the utmost quality to meet warfighters' urgent needs."

Following delivery to the U.S. Army in August, the 100th Chinook will be fielded by the next unit equipped with the new aircraft.

Since completing the first production model CH-47F Chinook in August 2006, Boeing has trained and equipped six U.S. Army units and is in the process of equipping the seventh. Four units have completed deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, where the helicopter logged nearly 50,000 flight hours and maintained an operational readiness rate of over 80 percent conducting air assault, transport and support operations.

"The CH-47F is proving its exceptional capabilities every day in combat operations," said Army Col. Bob Marion, Project Manager for Cargo Helicopters. "The technological advantages and improvements in the CH-47F are powerful combat multipliers that save soldiers' lives and support overall contingency operations in theater. I am extremely proud of our Cargo Team."

To further meet the needs of Chinook customers around the world, Boeing is implementing a $130 million renovation that will enable the Ridley Township factory to gradually increase production levels from the current four aircraft per month to a new rate of six aircraft per month in 2012.

The CH-47F features a newly designed, modernized airframe, Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) cockpit and Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS). The CAAS greatly improves aircrew situational awareness, and DAFCS provides dramatically improved flight-control capabilities through the entire flight envelope, significantly improved performance, and safety in the harshest of environments.

CAAS also incorporates an advanced digital map display and a data transfer system that allows storing of preflight and mission data. Improved survivability features include the Common Missile Warning and Improved Countermeasure Dispenser systems.

Northrop Grumman Completes Delivery of Upgraded U.S. Navy TargetsRetrofit Adds Functionality, Service Life to Older Unmanned Training Systems

21 July 2010, SAN DIEGO -- Some of the oldest aerial targets in the U.S. Navy's inventory can now be used for some of the service's most advanced training missions thanks to the recent on-schedule completion of an avionics upgrade of those targets by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC).

In late June, the company completed deliveries to the Navy of 25 BQM-34S Firebee aerial targets, each one retrofitted with modern avionics hardware from the service's primary target system, the Northrop Grumman-produced BQM-74E. As part of this Avionics Upgrade program, Northrop Grumman also provided updated operational flight program software, training of Navy personnel and flight test support.

"This upgrade program converted 25 targets that were nearly obsolete into state-of-the-art systems that will meet the Navy's most critical training system requirements for many years to come," said Hans Dall, program manager of the BQM-34 Targets Program for Northrop Grumman's Aerospace Systems sector. "The BQM-34Ss can be operated with the Standard Navy Target Control command and control system, and will allow the Navy to carry larger payloads than the BQM-74E in a system that delivers the proven performance of the BQM-74E."

Aerial targets are unmanned, aircraft-like systems used by the military to simulate tactical threats posed by enemy aircraft and missiles. They are typically used to test and evaluate surface ship defensive weapons systems or to train pilots in air-to-air combat techniques.

According to Dall, the new avionics and software added to the BQM-34Ss give the targets fully autonomous waypoint navigation and an improved ability to perform intricate maneuvers at extremely low altitudes.

"The BQM-34S Avionics Upgrade program is a great example of Northrop Grumman's expertise in migrating the capabilities of one unmanned system to another unmanned platform using proven hardware technology and only minor software changes," said Steve Mastin, director of target programs for Northrop Grumman's Aerospace Systems sector.

As another example, Mastin cited the company's current work with Bell Helicopter developing and flight testing a new medium range vertical unmanned aerial system (VUAS) called Fire-X. Fire-X will integrate the proven unmanned systems architecture of the Navy's MQ-8B Fire Scout VUAS with the mature, FAA-certified Bell 407 airframe. Northrop Grumman is the Navy's prime contractor for Fire Scout.

The BQM-34 Firebee is a versatile, highly reliable aerial target with a top speed of Mach 0.97, and an operational altitude envelope ranging from 10 feet above the sea surface to 60,000 feet. It can perform seven-g turns while maintaining high airspeeds for realistic threat presentations. It features a modular, robust design; large internal and external payload capacity; and abundant electrical power, allowing it to support a variety of specialized target and tactical unmanned aerial vehicle missions. It has been in service with the U.S. military for more than five decades.

22 Juli 2010, Jakarta -- Usai rapat kabinet terbatas di Kantor Presiden, Senin siang, Menteri Pertahanan Purnomo Yusgiantoro mengatakan kepada VOA, kunjungan Menteri Pertahanan Amerika, Robert Gates, kali ini untuk menindaklanjuti beberapa hal yang sudah sempat dibahas Presiden Yudhoyono dan Presiden Obama pada pertemuan G-20 di Toronto, Kanada, bulan lalu.

Sedikitnya ada tiga agenda yang akan dibicarakan, di antaranya kerjasama keamanan di kawasan Asia Tenggara dan Asia Pasifik, penanganan terorisme, serta pelatihan perwira TNI. Secara khusus, Purnomo menyatakan harapan agar Amerika bersedia kembali melatih perwira Komando Pasukan Khusus (Kopassus).

“Kerjasama terorisme dengan Amerika tetap jalan dan enggak ada masalah. Tetapi yang belum memang kerjasama dengan Kopassus, tapi kita juga ada latihan bersama dengan Australia dan berbagai negara. Di dalam negeri sendiri juga sudah enggak ada masalah lagi Kopassus dengan HAM. Saya kira (kunjungan) ini bisa mempererat hubungan bilateral kedua negara. Masalah Kopassus mudah-mudahan tidak lagi menjadi masalah,” jelas Menhan.

Mengenai isu penanganan terorisme, beberapa tokoh utamanya memang sudah dinyatakan tewas oleh Kepolisian Indonesia, yaitu Dr. Azahari, Noordin M. Top, dan Dulmatin.

Namun, jika melihat perkembangan kejahatan terorisme di Asia Tenggara sepuluh tahun terakhir, terlihat jelas jaringan mereka sangat luas, mulai dari Mindanao di Filipina Selatan, hingga Solo, Jawa Tengah dan Pandeglang, di Jawa Barat. Ini belum termasuk kawasan lain yang belum diketahui Polisi.

Untuk itu, Amerika dinilai perlu melakukan kerjasama regional untuk menangkal terorisme di Asia Tenggara. Pendapat ini disampaikan oleh pengamat hubungan internasional dari Universitas Indonesia, Makmur Keliat, kepada VOA, Senin malam.

“Sebaiknya kerjasama terorisme ini tidak hanya dalam kerangka bilateral, tetapi regional. Jadi ini yang harus dikembangkan ke depan. Bagi kita sebetulnya, kesulitan kerjasama regional dengan Amerika itu adalah karena AS sampai sekarang belum menjadi anggota (Forum) East Asia Summit, jadi ada kesulitan bagi Amerika untuk kerjasama regional,” ungkap Makmur.

Selain itu, masih menurut Makmur, Amerika juga tidak menjadi bagian dari ASEAN Plus 3 (Tiongkok, Korea Selatan, Jepang).

Hal lain yang juga dianggap mendesak adalah pengembangan alat utama sistem persenjataan (alutsista).

“Saya kira ke depan ini yang penting pengembangan alutsista kita yang dasarnya dari Amerika. Pesawat C-130 kan penting, bukan hanya untuk deployment pasukan tetapi juga operasi penjagaan perdamaian dan bantuan kemanusiaan. C-130 itu pesawat angkut Hercules,” kata Menhan.

Purnomo Yusgiantoro berharap Amerika Serikat dapat membantu melengkapi komponen alutsista Indonesia yang masih kurang.

Pakistan Tawari Indonesia Produksi Bersama Pesawat Tempur

21 Juli 2010, Jakarta -- Pakistan menawarkan Indonesia untuk memproduksi bersama pesawat tempur JF-17.

"Kami menawarkan kerja sama produksi pesawat tempur JF-17 kepada Indonesia. Sebelumnya, kami sudah melakukan kerja sama serupa dengan China," kata Menteri Federal Urusan Pertahanan Pakistan Chaudry Ahmad di Jakarta, Rabu.

Usai penandatanganan nota Kesepakatan Kerja Sama Pertahanan RI-Pakistan, ia mengatakan, pihaknya telah banyak banyak melakukan kerja sama industri pertahanan dengan sejumlah negara seperti China.

Selain pesawat tempur JF-17, Pakistan juga menawarkan kerja sama industri kapal patroli.

Menanggapi itu, Menteri Pertahanan Purnomo Yusgiantoro mengatakan, pihaknya masih menjajaki kemungkinan kerja sama dengan Pakistan tentang pembuatan pesawat tempur JF-17.

Ia mengatakan, Pakistan telah melakukan produksi bersama pesawat temput JF-17 dengan China. "Produksi bersama mereka mencapai 500 unit, dari jumlah itu, 350 unit untuk Pakistan dan sisanya untuk China. JF-17 merupakan pesawat tempur generasi 4+ atau lebih canggih dari Sukhoi dan F-16 yang kita punya," ujar Purnomo.

Sementara itu, Wakil Menhan Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin menambahkan, kedua pihak akan membicarakan kemungkinan produksi bersama pesawat alat utama sistem senjata seperti pesawat tempur JF-17 dan kapal patroli setelah terbentuk kesepakatan produksi bersama (joint production agreement).

"Setelah itu terbentuk pada Oktober mendatang, kita baru akan mendata apa saja yang bisa dikembangkan kedua pihak. Namun, selama ini Indonesai telah membeli sejumlah amunisi kaliber besar. Jadi terlalu dini, jika kita langsung membuat kesepakatan," ujarnya.

Pesawat yang diproduksi Pakistan-China JF-17 telah dipesan antara lain Azerbaijan dan Zimbabwe sedangkan negara lain yang telah menunjukkan minatnya adalah Bangladesh, Myanmar, Mesir, Iran, Lebanon dan Malaysia.

RI – Pakistan Sepakati Perjanjian Kerjasama Pertahanan


21 Juli 2010, Jakarta -- Menteri Federal Urusan Pertahanan Pakistan, Chaudry Ahmad Mukhtar, Rabu (21/7), melakukan kunjungan kenegaraan kepada Menteri Pertahanan RI Purnomo Yusgiantoro, di Kantor Kemhan, Jakarta.. Kunjungannya kali ini adalah untuk melakukan penandatanganan Perjanjian Kerjasama Pertahanan (Defence Cooperation Agreement) antara RI dan Pakistan.

Adapun salah satu isi dari perjanjian kerjasama pertahanan yang akan ditandatangani adalah kesepakatan mengenai akan diadakannya dialog dan konsultasi bilateral secara regular antara kedua negara dalam bidang strategis dan isu-isu keamanan yang menjadi perhatian bersama.

Hal lainnya yang termasuk dalam perjanjian kerjasama pertahanan tersebut adalah, pertukaran informasi dalam hal pertahanan termasuk di dalamnya mengenai organisasi, doktrin dan kebijakan pertahanan. Kerjasama di bidang ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi pertahanan melalui pertukaran personel, saling kunjung, latihan bersama, dan saling tukar informasi serta bentuk-bentuk kerjasama teknis lainnya yang berdasarkan prinsip kesetaraan dan kepentingan bersama.

Perjanjian pertahanan tersebut juga memuat mengenai upaya untuk mendorong pengembangan SDM institusi pertahanan dan angkatan bersenjata kedua belah pihak melalui pendidikan, pelatihan, saling kunjung, latihan bersama, pertukaran pengamat militer dalam mengawasi latihan dan pertukaran pendidikan keahlian, peralatan dan aktifitas yang berhubungan dengan hal-hal tersebut. Serta kerjasama di bidang pertahanan lainnya yang telah disetujui oleh kedua pihak.

Dalam kunjungannya ke Indonesia ini, Menhan Pakistan beserta rombongan juga dijadwalkan mengunjungi Museum Purna Bhakti di Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. Menteri Federal Urusan Pertahanan Pakistan Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar yang lahir di Lahore pada tahun 1946 ini menjadi Menteri Pertahanan sejak tahun 2008. Sebelum mengawali karier politik di tahun 1990 dan menjadikannya Menteri Pertahanan Pakistan saat ini, ia adalah seorang pengusaha. Sebelumnya dia pernah menjabat sebagai Menteri Perdagangan pada masa pemerintahan Benazir Bhutto.

Menguak Keberhasilan Latihan GKK Satfib Koarmatim


21 Juli 2010, Surabaya -- Latihan Terpadu Memantai, Lepas Pantai dan GKK (Gerakan Kapal ke Pantai) yang digelar Satuan Kapal Amfibi Komando Armada RI Kawasan Timur (Satfib Koarmatim) sudah berakhir dua minggu yang lalu.

Namun dari kesuksesan latihan ini menggelitik kita untuk menguak kembali keberhasilan latihan tersebut. Latihan yang berlangsung selama sepekan ini memang dapat dikatakan berhasil dan sukses. Semua materi latihan baik yang dilaksanakan di pangkalan maupun pada saat manuvra lapangan berhasil dilaksanakan dengan lancar, dan aman sesuai rencana yang telah ditetapkan .

Namun ada yang perlu diketahui, bahwa latihan yang melibatkan 244 prajurit dan 3 kapal perang TNI AL masing-masing KRI Teluk Penyu-513, KRI Teluk Cendrawasih-533 dan KRI Teluk Sampit-515 dari jajaran Satfib Koarmatim ini bukanlah latihan yang sudah terprogram sebelumnya dan rutin untuk dilaksanakan.

Tetapi latihan ini merupakan inisiatif sendiri dari Koarmatim, yang idenya dari Komandan Satfib Koarmatim Kolonel Laut (P) Ahmadi Heri Purwono, yang pada saat latihan bertindak selaku Papelat (Perwira Pelaksana Latihan). Keberhasilan latihan ini perlu mendapat apreasif dari pimpinan, dengan pemikiran bahwa latihan yang tidak terprogram saja berjalan dengan baik, apalagi kalau latihan itu sudah terjadwal sebelumnya pasti akan dapat dilaksanakan dengan lebih baik pula.

Momentum situasi dan kondisi seperti inilah, perlunya untuk menguak kembali keberhasilan latihan ini. Karena keberhasilan suatu latihan, baik itu yang sudah terprogram sebelumnya ataupun yang tidak terprogram, intinya adalah untuk mencapai keberhasilan tujuan suatu organisasi. Seperti yang dikatakan oleh Komandan Satfib Koarmatim Kolonel Laut (P) Ahmadi Heri Purwono, bahwa latihan ini tujuannya adalah memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan serta meningkatkan kemampuan dan profesionalisme prajurit di jajaran Satfib Koarmatim.

“Dengan menyelenggarakan latihan memantai, lepas pantai dan GKK yang merupakan tugas pokok Satfib Koarmatim dalam rangka mendukung operasi amfibi, diharapkan prajurit Satfib Koarmatim mampu melaksanakan fungsi dan peran sesuai standar yang dipersyaratkan. Sehingga dapat mendukung tugas pokok Koarmatim, baik pada saat melaksanakan operasi militer perang maupun operasi militer selain perang, seperti mendukung bantuan bencana alam di daerah- daerah terpencil” kata Komandan Satfib Koarmatim menegaskan.

Menurut Pamen TNI AL dengan pangkat melati tiga Alumni Akademi Angkatan Laut (AAL) Angkatan 33 tahun 1988 ini berharap, bahwa rangkaian latihan memantai dan lepas pantai ini perlu dilaksanakan secara berlanjut dilingkungan Satfib Koarmatim, agar dapat terpantau kemampuan konis tiap KRI dan memberikan tantangan dalam mengenal karakteristik medan tumpuan pantai bagi personel KRI dalam melaksanakan memantai, lepas pantai dan GKK.

Sementara itu, selama berada di pangkalan, peserta latihan dibekali dengan beberapa materi latihan yaitu diantaranya pengenalan Operasi Amfibi. Organisasi dan Kodal Operasi Amfibi. Prosedur dan Perencanaan GKK. Pelaksanaan GKK. Embarkasi dan Debarkasi Ranfib. Prosedur turun/naik jaring pasukan. Pengoperasian Bow Door Rampha Truk Ramp dan Meja Putar serta Hold Winch. Prosedur Beaching dan Reatrack. Menghitung pasang surut. Pengoperaian jangkar buritan. Prosedur Komunikasi Taktis dan Mantak. Sedangkan manuvra lapangan yang digelar di APBS (Alur Pelayaran Barat Surabaya), Laut Jawa, Selat Sapudi dan perairan Tanjung Jangkar menggelar beberapa materi lain, yaitu diantaranya Mine Field Transit, Flaghoist, Mobex, Flashex, OOW, Pubex, NSIC, Beaching, Reatrack, Memantai, Lepas Pantai dan GKK.

PAK FA is Ready to Execute a Complete Program of Flight Trials


20 July 2010, Farnborough -- The Sukhoi Company has completed the preliminary on-land and in-flight activities which involved all 3 engineering prototypes of the Frontline Aviation Advanced Airborne Complex (PAK FA) – the 5th-generation aircraft.

These prototypes were used for testbed strength tests, on-land optimization of fuel systems and other work towards flight trials. The flying prototype has made 16 flights. Today, the optimization of aircraft and its safety systems enables execution of a complete program of flight trials, announced the Director General of Sukhoi Mikhail Pogosyan today at the press conference at the Farnborough International Airshow-2010 Press Center.

The PAK FA took to the air on January 29 in Komsomolsk-na-Amure. The acceptance trials of the flying prototype were fully completed in late March. In April the first flying prototype of the fighter and the avionics testbed used for systems optimization before flight trials were delivered to the flying test center of the OKB Sukhoi Experimental Design Bureau in Zhukovsky near Moscow. Upon completion of the required on-bed preliminary tests of the systems, including the static example’s strength testing, on-land optimization of the avionics testbed and of the flying prototype, on April 29 the aircraft started preliminary tests.

Compared to the previous generation fighters, the PAK FA features a number of unique capabilities, including the functions of a strike aircraft and fighter. The fifth-generation aircraft is fitted with essentially new avionics integrating the function of “an electronic pilot” and with an advanced phased antenna array radar. This considerably reduces the pilot fatigue, enabling the pilot to concentrate on performance of a tactical mission. The new aircraft’s onboard equipment makes it possible to exchange information in the real time mode both with on-land control stations and with aviation group aircraft. The use of composite materials and innovative technologies, and the aerodynamic streamlining ensure unprecedented radar, optic and infrared stealthiness. This significantly enhances the operational capability against aerial and ground targets in all weathers, day and night.

Vladimir Popovkin, the Russian Defense Minister First Deputy, in his interview to the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper estimated the Russian Air Force’s demand for the 5th-generation fighters at 50 to 100 units. It is planned to complete all tests of the PAK FA airframe in 2011-2012, and to sign a contract in 2013 for a pilot lot of ten aircraft for testing the model’s entire weapons suite.

21 Juli 2010 -- Jet tempur siluman generasi kelima buatan Rusia akan dijual lebih murah dibandingkan jet tempur setaraf buatan Amerika Serikat, ujar pimpinan Sukhoi dan MiG Mikhail Pogosyan, tetapi signifikan lebih mahal disbanding jet tempur generasi keempat buatan Rusia.

Jet tempur generasi baru ini akan ditampilkan di pameran dirgantara MAKS 2011 di luar ibu kota Moskow.

“Tahun depan anda dapat melihat bagaimana pesawat generasi kelima lepas landas,” ucap Pogosyan.

Rusia mengembangkan jet tempur generasi kelima Sukhoi PAK FA sejak tahun 1990-an, prototipe pertama dikenal dengan T-50. Pesawat dirancang mampu menempuh jarak 5500 km, dijadwalkan dioperasikan AU Rusia 2015.

Saat India berminat membeli PAK FA hingga 100 pesawat. India akan mengembangkan PAK FA berkursi tandem. Rusia dan India telah menandatangani kerjsama pengembangan bersama jet tempur siluman ini.

21 Juli 2010, Jakarta -- PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) memiliki waktu dua tahun untuk mempersiapkan fasilitas maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) untuk 30 pesawat Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ100)waktu dua tahun untuk mempersiapkan fasilitas maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) untuk 30 pesawat Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ100) yang di datangkan PT Kartika Airlines.

Menurut Direktur Utama PTDI Budi Santoso, Kartika baru akan mendatangkan secara bertahap seluruh pesawat senilai US$ 840 Juta itu pada 2012.

"Terms and condition kerjasamanya sedang dibicarakan dengan Kartika Airlines, yang pasti PTDI akan menyiapkan semua yang diperlukan untuk mensupport pesawat tersebut," kata Budi melalui pesan singkat, Rabu (21/7).


Sayangnya, ia enggan menjelaskan lebih lanjut potensi pendapatan yang bisa diperolehnya dengan mengerjakan perawatan pesawat Kartika Airlines.

Sebelumnya di ajang Farnborough Air Show 2010, Kartika Airlines meneken kontrak pengadaan 30 SSJ100 senilai US$ 840 juta dengan Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Co (SCAC), Rusia.

"Berdasarkan kontrak, mulai 2012 SCAC akan menyerahkan satu pesawat setiap bulan. Kami menambah armada setelah mendapat dukungan pendanaan dari investor baru. Sehingga Kartika Airlines bisa menjadi maskapai Full Service," kata Direktur Utama Kartika Airlines Kim Johanes Mulia.

Kim tidak menjelaskan siapa investor yang dimaksud dan bagaimana mekanisme pembiayaan pembelian pesawat tersebut. Namun, dalam situs resmi maskapai itu dijelaskan bahwa pasca diakuisisi oleh PT Intra Asia Corpora, Kartika Airlines berniat menerapkan standar baru penerbangan dengan moto lebih cepat, tepat waktu, dan layanan handal.

20 July 2010, Farnborough -- The development and production of the 4++ generation Su-35 fighter is among priority programs of the Sukhoi Company. Under this program, a number of technologies are being optimized for operational use of a fifth-generation airborne combat complex.

Now the company is completing preliminary tests of the Su-35. The aircraft fully proves the claimed characteristics of the avionics and demonstrates super-maneuverable capabilities. The maximum ground-level speed attained is 1,400 km/h, speed at altitude – 2,500 km/h, and ceiling – 19,000 m. The target detection range in the air-to-air mode is over 400 km. This markedly exceeds the similar characteristics of in-service aircraft. The size of a target detected in the air-to-surface mode is up to 10 m. The onboard optic detection and ranging station detects and simultaneously tracks several targets at a range of more than 80 km. The complex is ready for pre-operational trials, announced the Director General of Sukhoi Mikhail Pogosyan today at the press conference at the Farnborough International Airshow-2010 Press Center.

Due to completion of preliminary tests and preparation for joint acceptance trials, the Russian Air Force pilots start participating in flights. The first pilot to fly the Su-35S was Alexander Kruzhavin, commander of a military unit. He valued highly the flight performance of the aircraft.

The Su-35S aircraft (a version for the Russian AF), along with the frontline aviation’s advanced airborne complex (FAAAC), will determine Russia’s defense capability. Under a state contract signed in 2009 to supply the Russian Defense Ministry till 2015 with forty-eight Su-35S aircraft, the Company’s facilities in Komsomolsk-na-Amure have launched serial production of fighters. The first one will be made available by the end of the year. Bulk deliveries will start in 2011. The technologies employed in the Su-35S program will enable the Russian AF to partially reequip the country’s air forces and to swiftly switch over to the next-generation machines.

Sukhoi is also holding talks with foreign customers anxious to re-arm their air forces. They are scheduled for the countries of South East Asia, Middle East and South America. The signing of new contracts will maintain Russia’s competitiveness on the global fighter market. The bulk exports are due to start in 2012.

Serial production of the Su-35 fighter and its delivery to customers will maintain Sukhoi’s competitiveness on the global combat aircraft market till a fifth-generation fighter emerges there in 2016-2025.

The Su-35 is a thoroughly upgraded super-maneuverable fighter of the 4++ generation. It employs technologies of the fifth generation that assure its superiority over similar class fighters. The special features of the aircraft include a new avionics suite based on digital information control system integrating onboard systems, a new radar with a phased antenna array having a long aerial target detection range with an increased number of simultaneously tracked and engaged targets (30 aerial targets tracked and 8 engaged plus the tracking of 4 and engagement of 2 ground targets), and new enhanced vectored thrust engines. The Su-35 has a diverse suite of long-, medium- and short-range weapons. It can carry guided aerial munitions for anti-radar and anti-ship actions as well as general purpose munitions, and guided and unguided aerial bombs. The radar signature of the fighter has been reduced by several times as compared to that of the fourth-generation aircraft by coating the cockpit with electro-conducting compounds, applying radio absorption coats and reducing the number of protruding sensors. The service life of the aircraft is 6,000 hours flight hours; the life cycle is 30 years of operation. The assigned service life of vectored thrust engines is 4,000 hours.

Dalam amanantnya, komandan lama Letkol (Inf) Besar Harto Karyawan merasa terhormat bisa melaksanakan tugas di wilayah tugas Brigif 13 Galuh/Kostrad, yang membawahi tiga batalyon tempur yakni Garut, dan Banjar, dan Majalengka. Ia berharap, agar komandan brigif yang baru mampu meningkatkan profesionalitas, kemampuan dan kesiapsiagaan Brigif dalam menghadapi berbagai tantangan. “Jadikanlan tantangan besar untuk mengejar kebutuhan kita,” ujarnya.

Ia juga mengimbau, agar keterbatasan peralatan dan kondisinya yang sudah tua tidak mengendurkan semangat seluruh pasukan di lapangan. Seraya meminta agar komandan baru menjadikan keterbatasan tersebut sebagai pemicu untuk lebih meningkatkan dan mengembangkan diri dalam kesiagaan operasional dan kesolidan terus terjaga.

Sementara itu, komandan baru Brigif 13 Galuh/Kostrad, Letkol (Inf) Tri Yuniarto mengaku, bangga untuk meneruskan perjuangan yang telah dirintis oleh komandan lama. Tri melihat, kesatuan yang akan dipimpinnya sudah tertata dengan rapi dan baik, berkat perjuangan komandan sebelumnya. “Saya berharap di kesatuan baru ini bisa bekerja sama dengan semua kalangan untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme,”katanya.

Latihan Terjun Special Air Force Dua Negara

21 Juli 2010, Bandung -- Pasukan Khas TNI Angkatan Udara (Paskhasau) dari Makorpaskhasau, Batalyon 461 dan 464 Paskhasau bersama dengan Special Force dari USAF mulai berlatih penerjunan dengan drop zone di Lanud Sulaiman. Seusai briefing penerbangan sekitar pukul 07.00 WIB pasukan khusus dari kedua Negara langsung bersiap untuk berlatih terjun, Selasa (20/7), berangkat menggunakan pesawat Herkules masing-masing negara.

Hari kedua pelaksanaan Latma Teak Iron 2010 dilaksanakan dua shortie penerbangan, pertama kali terbang pesawat Hercules TNI AU membawa 26 orang peterjun, diikuti pesawat Herkules USAF dengan 10 peterjun USAF dan 15 paskhasau.

Ketika pelaksanaan penerjunan berlangsung, diadakan pula sesi kelas dimana personel dari kedua Negara melaksanakan pertukaran informasi dalam bidang kesehatan.

Tujuh Negara Tingkatkan Pengamanan Selat Malaka


21 Juli 2010, Jakarta -- Tujuh negara yang ikut dalam pertemuan Malacca Strait Sea Patrol (MSSP) 2010, sepakat untuk meningkatkan patroli keamanan bersama di kawasan laut Selat Malaka. "Selat Malaka merupakan kawasan strategis karena menjadi jalur pelayaran berbagai negara. Selain karena berbatasan dengan sejumlah negara, kepentingan ekonomi juga menjadi faktor rawan konflik," ujar Kepala Staf TNI Angkatan Laut (KSAL), Laksamana TNI Agus Suhartono saat dihubungi di Jakarta, Selasa (20/7).

Masing-masing negara diwakili Kepala Staf Angkatan Laut, yakni Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand dan Singapura. Sedangkan, Filipina, Brunei Darussalam dan Vietnam turut mendukung peningkatan keamanan Selat Malaka. Mereka mengevaluasi pelaksanaan Malacca Strait Sea Patrol (MSSP) yang digelar bersama sejak 2005.

Sebagai konsekuensi The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982, dijelaskan Agus, Indonesia sebagai negara pantai bertanggung jawab pada batas laut internasional di wilayah kedaulatan Alur Laut Kepulauan Indonesia (ALKI).

Untuk itu, MSSP disiapkan dan dikembangkan untuk memberikan rasa aman bagi seluruh pengguna Selat Malaka dan Selat Singapura dari ancaman kekerasan, bahaya navigasi dan pelanggaran hukum di laut.

"Garis pantai yang berada di wilayah Indonesia merupakan garis pantai penghubung (sea lanes of communication/SLOC) dan garis penghubung perdagangan minyak bumi (sea lanes of oil trade/SLOT)," ucapnya.

Menurut dia, SLOC dan SLOT terlihat menjadi nadi dari kehidupan banyak Negara, seperti di Indonesia sendiri. Umumnya mayoritas di negara-negara Asia Pasifik, yang bangunan ekonominya diorientasikan pada kegiatan ekspor/impor tergantung pada eksistensi SLOC menjadi sangat penting.

"Hal ini bisa kita lihat dengan pertumbuhan dari kekuatan industri di Asia Timur seperti Jepang, China dan Korea dimana kebutuhan minyak mereka dari Timur Tengah dari tahun ke tahun naik secara cepat," ujarnya.

Berdasarkan kebutuhan itu, tutur KSAL, jaminan keamanan Sloc dan Slot sangat penting karena terkait dengan ekonomi dunia bagi pengguna laut di dua wilayah, yakni Selat Malaka dan Selat Singapura.

"Pada konteks ini, Indonesia tentunya tidak menginginkan kejadian perompakan di Teluk Aden yang disebabkan ketidakmampuan pemerintah Somalia untuk menjaga keamanan Sloc dan Slot terjadi di wilayah Indonesia," katanya.

Sebagai gambaran, ia menyontohkan, berdasarkan data perompakan di teluk Aden terjadi perkembangan sangat signifikan, dimana dari 126 kasus di tahun 2007 menjadi 114 kasus hanya dalam kurun waktu 6 bulan pertama selama tahun 2008.

20 July 2010 -- Airbus Military is formally adopting the name Grizzly for its five-strong development fleet of A400M airlifters.

The new name is not the product of an expensive marketing study, nor something devised by a team of branding experts, nor the result of months of debate among the sales team. Instead it is the affectionate nickname given to the aircraft by the close-knit group of flight test pilots and engineers who first saw it safely into the air.

When the first aircraft was handed over to the flight-test team in Seville, Spain in November 2009, it was formally known as MSN1 in the time-honoured aviation tradition of referring to the manufacturer´s serial number. But, working at the remotely located flight-test centre at the western end of the lengthy Airbus Military flightline at Seville, the team quickly began hunting for a handier nickname.

The Flight Test Team seized on the resemblance between the mighty airlifter´s hunched appearance and the muscular shoulders of the grizzly bear, and soon afterwards the aircraft was already being referred to inside flight-test as “the Grizzly”. By the time of the first flight on 11th December, the name had stuck sufficiently firmly that it was adopted as the aircraft´s radio callsign – Grizzly One.

Furthermore, a little-known fact is that the first flight also carried a party of non-human passengers – teddy bears to raise funds for the EADS-sponsored charity Aviation Without Borders – a nice reminder of the Grizzly’s future role in civic and humanitarian missions. The name rapidly spread throughout Airbus Military and beyond, and at the ILA Berlin airshow in June 2010 an informal Grizzly One logo appeared on MSN1 when it made its first public airshow appearance. Yesterday the company announced that it was adopting the name Grizzly for the five development aircraft to be used during the flight-test programme. In a ceremony at Farnborough, MSN1´s sister-ship MSN2 was formally named Grizzly by two-times World Aerobatic Champion Catherine Maunoury of France. Airbus Military Managing Director Domingo Ureña said: “Our Grizzly and the grizzly bear share a rare combination of speed, strength, and agility, so it is no surprise that they also bear a resemblance to each other. We are proud to associate the A400M with one of nature´s great creatures.”

Catherine Maunoury is one of France´s most celebrated pilots and among the most successful aerobatic pilots in the world. After obtaining her pilot´s licence aged 17, she became French national aerobatic champion in 1980 and went on to win the title ten times. In 1988 and 2000 she was also world aerobatic champion. About the grizzly bear

Despite its scientific name Ursus arctos horribilis, the grizzly bear is primarily vegetarian and females spend more than two years raising their young. Nevertheless they may weigh upwards of 700lb (320 kg) and can run at speeds of more than 30 mph (50 km/hr). Grizzlies are a sub-species of the brown bear Ursus arctos and normally lead a solitary and territorial existence. Their common name comes from their silver-tipped fur which gives rise to what was originally called a ‘grizzly’ appearance. Their famous hunched look is due to a muscular hump that gives them additional strength for running and digging. Grizzlies are today found overwhelmingly in Canada and Alaska, with much smaller numbers in north-western USA where it is a protected species. The European brown bear is very closely related.

Major Program Milestone Demonstrates Success For Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules Program

20 July 2010, FARNBOROUGH, England -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] recently completed assembly of its 200th C-130J Super Hercules. The aircraft is the second HC-130J for the U.S. Air Force’s Air Combat Command and is a clear demonstration of the success and continued growth of the C-130J program, which produces the world’s most advanced airlifter. Reynolds also referenced the 200th C-130J during the briefing, noting this new HC-130J variant indicates there is still a need for the highly efficient, flexible mission-focused aircraft. “The C-130J is still seeing new horizons in terms of design and we have more on the drawing board,” he said.

The ongoing success of the C-130J program continues to be demonstrated in other ways. This September marks the 50th anniversary celebration of Canada receiving its first C-130. When the time came to replace the existing Canadian C-130 fleet, the C-130J’s proven capabilities far exceeded the new airlift concepts offered. Canada received its first CC-130J in June 2010 and will have a total fleet of 17 CC-130Js.

KSAL Dorong Penyelesaian ZEE Indonesia - China


20 Juli 2010, Jakarta -- Kepala Staf TNI Angkatan Laut (KSAL) Laksamana TNI Agus Suhartono meminta Pemerintah Indonesia dan Pemerintah China segera menyelesaikan persoalan perbatasan maritim zona ekonomi eksklusif (ZEE) di kawasan Natuna, Kepulauan Riau, Kepri. "Perlu ada pertemuan antardua negara untuk membahas ZEE di Natuna. Kami selalu mendorong untuk penyelesaian itu secara baik sebagai negara sahabat," ujar KSAL usai mengikuti pertemuan evaluasi Malacca Strait Sea Patrol (MSSP) 2010 di Batam, Kepri, Senin (19/7).

Tujuh negara ikut dalam pertemuan tersebut, yakni Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapura, Thailand, Filipina, Vietnam, dan Brunei Darussalam.

Agus mengatakan, ZEE Indonesia-China di perairan Natuna telah berdampak pada ketegangan antara TNI AL dengan nelayan China maupun ketegangan TNI AL dengan Angkatan Laut China. Dalam beberapa kali patroli, TNI AL menangkap basah kapal perang China memasuki wilayah perairan Natuna yang masih berada di ZEE Indonesia.

Sebaliknya, tutur ia menambahkan, nelayan China merasa berhak menangkap ikan di perairan Natuna karena perairan tersebut dinilai masih berada di batas ZEE China. "Telah menjadi kebiasaan, bahwa nelayan China menangkap ikan di perairan (Natuna) itu," ujarnya.

Klaim nelayan tradisional China terhadap ZEE di Natuna, menurut dia, telah melahirkan tumpang tindih perbatasan ZEE Indonesia dan China. Padahal, berdasarkan United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) tahun 1982, perairan tersebut masuk dalam ZEE Indonesia. "Untuk itu, kami mendorong pemerintah China dan Indonesia untuk membahas batas ZEE Natuna dalam forum bilateral bertemu untuk membicarakan tumpang tindih itu," tambah KSAL.

Sementara itu, TNI AL juga meningkatkan patroli di perairan Natuna, Kalimantan Barat, pada musim gelombang tinggi untuk menekan pencurian ikan.

Komandan Pangkalan TNI AL Pontianak Kolonel TNI Parno menyatakan, peningkatan patroli itu untuk menekan tingkat pencurian ikan di kawasan perairan Natuna, yang menjadi sasaran empuk pencurian ikan oleh nelayan asing pada saat nelayan lokal takut melaut.

"Berdasarkan pengalaman, di saat gelombang kuat, nelayan kita takut melaut, sehingga kesempatan itu dimanfaatkan oleh nelayan asing untuk mencuri ikan di perairan kita. Makanya kami akan melakukan patroli di titik rawan pencurian ikan," katanya.

Parno menambahkan, pihaknya akan melakukan koordinasi dengan Kapal Perang Indonesia (KRI) yang kebetulan melakukan patroli rutin di kawasan perairan Natuna.

20 Juli 2010, Surabaya -- Kapal angkut militer Angkatan Laut Amerika Serikat USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) yang tergabung dalam Pacific Partnership Sail Banda 2010 meneruskan perjalanannya di Indonesia dengan tujuan akhir Ambon dari tanggal 26 Juli sampai 4 Agustus. Hal tersebut dikatakan oleh Mayor Daniel Bernardi salah seorang personel Angkatan Laut Amerika Serikat yang bertugas di bagian Media Publikasi Pacific Partnership 2010.

Kapal ini bergabung di Ambon dengan 2 kapal Australia, HMAS Labuan dan HMAS Tarakan. Pacific Partnership 2010 merupakan misi ke lima dari serangkaian misi tahunan Armada Pacific A.S. yang dilakukan di Indonesia sebagai latihan penanggulangan bencana yang ditujukan untuk memperkuat kerjasama regional dan meningkatkan kemampuan operasi dengan negara tuan rumah, negara-negara sahabat, dan organisasi kemanusiaan dan bantuan internasional.

Negara-negara yang terlibat Pacific Partnership 2010 di Indonesia termasuk para profesional di bidang kesehatan dan insinyur dari Australia, Kamboja, Kanada, Indonesia, Selandia Baru, Inggris, dan anggota militer Amerika Serikat. Juga ada Lembaga Swadaya Masyarakat seperti HOPE Worldwide; Latter-day Saint Charities; Project HOPE; UCSD Pre-Dental Society; Vets without Borders; dan World Vets berada di kapal Mercy untuk membantu melayani kesehatan masyarakat Ambon dan daerah sekitar pulau itu.

Sail banda adalah serangkain acara yang diprakarsai oleh pemerintah Indonesia untuk mempromosikan masa depan pulau-pulau kecil. Dengan fokus kepada ekologi, konservasi, dan kesadaran lingkungan, Sail Banda 2010 diharapkan untuk bisa mengulang sukses Bunaken Sail 2009 dengan membawa beberapa negara memperkuat persahabatan dan membangun kerjasama dan pengertian yang sama.

Acara-acara termasuk seminar, atraksi kebudayaan, pameran produk-produk, dan pelayanan sosial yang dijadwalkan berlangsung dari tanggal 12 Juli sampai tanggal 15 Agustus. Partisipasi Mercy termasuk klinik gigi dan kesehatan dan proyek konstruksi di Ambon dan luar Ambon, termasuk pulau seram.


Ini merupakan kunjungan ketiga Mercy ke Indonesia. Setelah bencana tsunami pada bulan Desember 2004 yang menimpa Asia Tenggara dan daerah Samudra India. USNS Mercy ditugaskan untuk mendukung usaha penanggulangan internasional. Pada tahun 2006 USNS Mercy sekali lagi ditugaskan sebagai bagian dari penugasan lima bulan yang meliputi program penanggulangan kesehatan di Banglades, Timor-Leste dan Filipina.

USNS Mercy sudah menyelesaikan dua misi pertama Pacific Partnership 2010 ke Vietnam dan Kamboja, begitu juga dengan kunjungan ke Indonesia di wilayah Propinsi Maluku Utara, dimana Tim kesehatan dan insinyur bangunan melayani bantuan kesehatan dan proyek konstruksi di daerah itu. “Pacific Partnership 2010 terus melangkah ke daerah baru. Sebagai contoh, selama kunjungan ke Kamboja, mengirim tim kesehatan sejauh 320 mil dari lokasi USNS Mercy untuk mencapai daerah pedalaman. Ketika di Indonesia, Pacific Partnership mencapai tingkat baru dalam arti mampu untuk berusaha menggabungkan acara penting negara lain sebagai upaya kesempatan kerjasama dan persahabatan di tingkat yang belum pernah dilakukan sebelumnya oleh Pacific Partnership. ,” kata Komandan Pacific Partnership 2010 Kapten Lisa Franchetti.

20 Juli 2010, Ambon -- Operasi Bhakti Surya Bhaskara Jaya (SBJ) di Maluku yang merupakan salah satu program Sail Banda 2010 telah melayani 5.123 pasien di Pulau Buru dan Ambon.

Data yang diterima Kepala Dinas Kesehatan Maluku, Fat Basalamah dari dr. Aril Zakaria selaku Wakil Kepala Operasi Surya Bhaskara Jaya menyebutkan, angka tersebut merupakan pasien yang terlayani sejak pelayanan kesehatan gratis KRI Soeharso di Namlea, Kabupaten Buru pada 11 – 13 Juli yang dilanjutkan ke Desa Liang, Waai dan Passo, Pulau Ambon hingga Senin kemarin.

“Di Buru jumlah pasien yang terlayani selama tiga hari sebanyak 2.007 orang. Belum termasuk 21 pasien yang ikut KRI Soeharso untuk menjalani operasi di Ambon sewaktu tiba di Pelabuhan Yos Sudarso pada 14 Juli. Sementara 50 pasien lainnya dari sini (Ambon, red) juga sempat tertangani hari itu,” kata Fat Basalamah kepada ANTARA di Ambon, Selasa.

Sementara jumlah pasien yang tertangani selama keberadaan KRI Soeharso di Pulau Ambon antara lain di Desa Liang pada 15 – 16 Juli sebanyak 1.048 pasien, Waai pada 17 – 18 Juli sebanyak 1.324 pasien, Passo yang digeser ke Pangkalan Utama TNI AL (Lantamal) IX yang berlokasi di Desa Halong pada 19 Juli sebanyak 428 pasien.

Sedangkan jumlah pasien yang terlayani hari ini di Rumah Sakit Lantamal IX Desa Halong belum dihitung, demikian pula yang di Kapal KRI Soeharso.

Pelayanan kesehatan SBJ di setiap desa sasaran di Pulau Ambon berlangsung di darat dan laut. Di darat pelayanan dipusatkan Rumah Sakit Lantamal IX Desa Halong, sedangkan di laut berlangsung di atas kapal KRI Soeharso.

Jenis pengobatan dan tindakan medis dalam program Sail Banda ini dilakukan terhadap semua jenis penyakit.

Tim dokter dalam Kapal KRI Soeharso berjumlah 19 orang, terdiri dari penyakit dalam, bedah orthopedy, bedah mulut, THT dan hiperbarik masing-masing satu orang, anastesi dua orang, ahli mata empat orang, umum dan gigi masing-masing dua orang.

Setelah melayani masyarakat dari Desa Passo, pelayanan keseharan KRI Soeharso di Pulau Ambon akan diteruskan kepada masyarakat di Desa Hutumuri pada 21 – 22 Juli.

Selanjutnya operasi SBJ akan berlanjut di Ibu kota Kabupaten Maluku Tengah (Malteng) yakni Masohi pada 23 – 25 Juli dan Pulau Banda 26 – 28 Juli.

USNS Mercy

Sementara pada 26 Juli, Kapal Rumah Sakit terbesar Amerika Serikat (AS), USNS Mercy T-AH 19 tiba di Ambon dan akan melayani masyarakat di Desa Waihaong pada 27 – 29 Juli sebagai bagian program SBJ di Maluku.

Saat bersamaan, masyarakat di Desa Pelauw, Pulau Haruku, Malteng juga mendapatkan pelayanan yang sama dari tim dokter USNS mercy yang merupakan gabungan dari Angkatan Laut AS, Singapura dan Australia.

USNS Mercy juga akan melakukan pengobatan masal kepada masyarakat di Kabupaten Seram Bagian Barat yang dipusatkan di Ibu kota Piru pada 27 – 28 Juli dan dilanjutkan di Kecamatan Kairatu pada 29 – 30 Juli.

Sedangkan pengobatan masal di Kecamatan Leihitu yakni Desa Mamala dan Morela dan Kecamatan Sirimau dipusatkan di Desa Karang Panjang, Ambon akan dilakukan oleh USNS Mercy bersama KRI Soeharso pada 30 – 31 Juli.

Selanjutnya operasi terakahir Surya Bhaskara Jaya akan berlangsung di Desa Tulehu pada 1 – 2 Agustus.

Lockheed Martin F-16 Is Ready For The Future As The World’s Most Advanced 4th Generation Fighter


20 July 2010, FARNBOROUGH, England -- The versions of the F-16 being delivered to customers now are the most advanced 4th Generation multi-role fighter aircraft currently available on the international market and are building on the F-16’s reputation for effectiveness and value, the Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] director of business development for the program said today.

“The F-16 continues as a modern, highly capable, affordable and supportable fighter. The program is healthy and active, with firm production through 2013 and a strong likelihood of new orders that will extend the line for several more years,” said Bill McHenry, director of business development for F-16 programs, in remarks to reporters at the Farnborough International Airshow. McHenry also added that there is a firm backlog of 86 F-16 aircraft, including a recent order from Egypt for 20 new, Advanced Block 50/52 aircraft, the sixth follow-on buy for this country.

More than 4,450 F-16s have been delivered worldwide since the program’s inception more than 30 years ago – including 53 follow-on buys by 14 countries.

In addition to the F-16 production programs, Lockheed Martin continues to develop the F-16 for the future by integrating advanced technologies through upgrade programs for existing F-16s to ensure interoperability with the world’s only 5th Generation fighters, the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II.

“This integration of advanced technologies for fielded and new aircraft provides an opportunity for F-16 operators to benefit from the latest developments in technology and capabilities for fighter aircraft,” McHenry said. “This synergy will parallel technology and provide a natural bridge from the 4th Generation of fighters to the 5th Generation.”

Aircraft now being produced for Turkey, Pakistan, Morocco and Egypt are the Advanced Block 50/52 F-16C/D configuration. The United Arab Emirates was the launch customer for the Block 60 F-16 E/F version, and is the platform basis for the proposed variant called the F-16IN Super Viper for the Indian Air Force’s Medium Multi-role Combat Aircraft competition.

McHenry said the F-16 offers the latest technologies and capabilities available today – including AESA radar, day-night, all-weather, standoff, autonomous, air intercept and precision strike. These aircraft have the latest in avionics, sensors and weapons, plus user-friendly cockpits and systems integration that provide pilots with high situational awareness.

20 Juli 2010 – Taiwan berencana membeli torpedo dan main battle tank (MBT) dari Amerika Serikat untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pertahanan meskipun hubungan Taiwan dan Cina mencair, diberitakan kantor berita AFP, Selasa (19/7).

Presiden Taiwan Ma Ying-jeou telah memerintahkan Menteri Pertahanan membuat daftar belanja, termasuk torpedo MK-54 MAKO, lusinan MBT M1A2, amphibious landing vehicles, diberitakan the Liberty Times.

Torpedo MK-54 akan menggantikan torpedo tua MK-46.

Menhan Taiwan mengatakan daftar belanja belum final.

Harian Taiwan sebelumnya memberitakan Cina meningkatkan jumlah rudal yang diarahkan ke Taiwan dari 300 pada 2001 menjadi 1400 pada 2008.

Pemerintah Amerika Serikat mengumumkan Januari lalu penjualan paket senjata ke Taiwan, termasuk sistem pertahanan rudal Patriot, helikopter Black Hawk, perlengkapan armada jet tempur F-16, tetapi tidak ada penjualan kapal selam atau jet tempur baru.

Penjualan ini memancing kemarahan Beijing, mengancam akan memotong kontak militer dan keamanan dengan AS.

Boeing F-15 Silent Eagle Demonstrator Completes 1st Weapon Launch


20 July 2010, ST. LOUIS -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] successfully launched a missile from the F-15 Silent Eagle's newly designed Conformal Weapons Bay (CWB) on July 14. Demonstration aircraft F-15E1 departed from Point Mugu Naval Air Weapon Station, Calif., at 5:59 p.m Pacific time, launched an inert AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile (AMRAAM) from its left-side CWB, and returned to base at 6:52 p.m.

The test demonstrated the CWB's flightworthiness and ability to deploy an AMRAAM in flight with no adverse effect on the performance of the aircraft or the CWB itself.

"I've been flying F-15s for more than 20 years, but this flight was different from all others," said Boeing F-15 Chief Test Pilot Dan Draeger. "This first launch of an AMRAAM from the F-15's internal weapons bay opens a new era for the F-15 and for strike fighter capability in the dominance of the F-15 Eagle.

"The F-15, CWB and missile performed exactly as we predicted," Draeger continued. "The Silent Eagle continues the F-15's role as the most versatile strike fighter aircraft ever built."

F-15E1 made its first flight with a CWB from Lambert St. Louis International Airport on July 8. The CWB, which carried an AIM-120 Instrumented Test Vehicle (ITV), was successfully opened and closed during that 80-minute flight, validating Boeing's design approach.

"The F-15SE's internal carriage CWBs will significantly increase tactical options for international customers while retaining all the cost-certain, battle-proven capability of the Strike Eagle," said Roger Besancenez, F-15 Program vice president for Boeing.

The Silent Eagle is an innovative design solution developed in response to international customer requirements for a cost-effective, high-performance fighter aircraft to defend against future threats. Using a modular design approach, the F-15SE offers unique aerodynamic, avionic and Radar Cross Section (RCS)-reduction features that provide the user with maximum flexibility to dominate the ever-changing advanced threat environment. RCS reductions include treatments to the aircraft (based on U.S. government policy). The F-15SE CWBs can carry a variety of air-to-air missiles, such as the AIM-9 and AIM-120, and air-to-ground weapons such as the Joint Direct Attack Munition and Small Diameter Bomb. The Silent Eagle's CWBs can be easily removed, and the aircraft can be rapidly reconfigured into the combat-proven external carriage/conformal fuel tank loadout based on mission requirements.

Kopaska TNI AL Menembak Sniper


20 Juli 2010, Surabaya -- Setelah berlatih selama sepekan, kini Komando Pasukan Katak (Kopaska) TNI AL dan Angkatan laut Amereka Serikat dari jajaran US Navy Seal menggelar latihan dengan materi latihan Markmanship (keahlian menembak).

Latihan menembak ini dimulai Senin (19/7) sampai hari ini Selasa (20/7) di Lapangan Tembak Koarmatim Ujung Surbaya. Latihan menembak ini merupakan rangkaian kegiatan latihan bersama antara Kopaska TNI AL dengan US Navy Seal yang diberi nama “Latma Flash Iron 10-2 JCET 2010.

Pelaksanaan latihan dimulai tanggal 12 Juli, dan akan berakhir hingga tanggal 5 Agustus bulan depan. Berbagai ragam senjata panjang jenis Sniper yang dilatihkan pada saat itu, diantaranya ada SG 550 kaliber 5,56 mm serta AW, Galil, Steyr, dan SPR dengan kaliber 7,62 mm. Disamping Sniper, juga latihan menembak pistol.

Keahlian menembak bagi setiap prajurit adalah sesuatu hal yang wajar, karena begitu masuk dalam pendidikan dasar keprajuritan latihan keterampilan menembak perorangan ini sudah diberikan. Tapi lain halnya bila dalam latihan menembak tersebut menggunakan senjata khusus seperti senjata jenis Sniper, terasa ada kebanggaan tersendiri bagi pelakunya.

Menjadi kebanggaan tersendiri bagi prajurit Kopaska TNI AL, karena tidak semua prajurit memiliki kesempatan sama untuk bisa melaksanakan latihan menembak Sniper, hanya prajurit-prajurit khusus yang dibekali menembak Sniper.

Pasukan yang terlibat dalam latihan ini dari Kopaska TNI AL 92 personel sedangkan dari pihak US Navy Seal 19 personel. Latihan yang digelar hingga 5 Agustus tersebut melaksanakan beberapa materi latihan diantaranya pengamanan VVIP, MIO (Martime Interdiction Operation), Markmanship and Skills, CQC (Closed Quarter Combat), Urban Warfare dan TCCE (Tactical Combat Casualiv Care).

Northrop Grumman Block 40 Global Hawk Successfully Completes Major Flight Test Milestone

19 July 2010, EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) first Block 40 RQ-4 Global Hawk high altitude long endurance (HALE) unmanned aircraft system (UAS) has completed envelope expansion flights, just six months after conducting its first flight. The Block 40 aircraft will be equipped with the high performance Multi-Platform Radar Technology Insertion Program (MP-RTIP) sensor and is the first of 22 Block 40 Global Hawks assigned to Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota.

The company also delivered on time the first development test MP-RTIP sensor to Edwards AFB for integration on the aircraft. The MP-RTIP sensor has completed radar system level performance verification on a surrogate aircraft, and will be integrated into AF-18, a Block 40 Global Hawk aircraft, for operational evaluation.

"The MP-RTIP-equipped Global Hawk illustrates Northrop Grumman's unique ability to create a system that will provide game-changing situational awareness for our warfighters with its unprecedented capability to detect, track and identify stationary and moving targets," said Duke Dufresne, vice president of the Strike and Surveillance Systems division of Northrop Grumman's Aerospace Systems sector. "Our next step is to finalize sensor integration with the airframe and conduct the first flight of the full Block 40 system later this year."

"The MP-RTIP sensor has proven to perform above and beyond expectations," said George Vardoulakis, Northrop Grumman vice president of MP-RTIP. "The superior technology of the MP-RTIP will prove to be an invaluable resource to the warfighter."

Global Hawk's range, endurance and large payload capabilities are well suited to provide persistent surveillance with MP-RTIP. Flying at altitudes up to 60,000 feet for more than 32 hours per sortie at speeds approaching 340 knots, the MP-RTIP-equipped Block 40 Global Hawk can persistently see through most types of weather, day or night. As the world's first fully autonomous HALE UAS, Global Hawk is the platform of choice for a wide variety of sensors, foreign and domestic, meeting the global need for persistent ISR.

Northrop Grumman is the prime contractor for the Global Hawk and MP-RTIP programs and continues to move these technologies forward under the stewardship of the Air Force's Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and the Electronic Systems Center, located at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass. Northrop Grumman's Norwalk, Conn., facility is the principal MP-RTIP radar developer along with principal subcontractor, Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, El Segundo, Calif.

Harrier USMC Jatuh


20 Juli 2010 -– Jet tempur AV-8B Harrier Marinir AS dari satuan 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), jatuh di bagian Barat danau George di taman nasional Ocala, dekat kota Salt Springs, Florida, sekitar pukul 20:00 waktu setempat, Minggu (18/7).

Jet berasal dari kapal amphibi USS Kearsarge (LHD-3), saat jatuh sedang melakukan latihan.

Pilot Kaptain Jarrod L. Klement dari Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 266, berhasil melakukan eject dan dilarikan ke Shands Cancer Hospital di Universitas Florida, Gainesville oleh pihak berwajib setempat.

Kondisi Klement dalam keadaan stabil, tidak memerlukan perawatan serius.

Penyebab kecelakaan dalam penyelidikan.

The Lockheed Martin F-35: Centerpiece Of 21st Century Global Security


19 July 2010, FARNBOROUGH, England -- The 5th generation F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter will serve as the centerpiece for 21st century global security while strengthening international political and industrial partnerships, a senior Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] F-35 executive said Monday at the Farnborough Air Show.

“As we continue to define what a next generation multirole fighter is and bring to the world a profound increase in capability over the best existing fighters, I’m most proud that we’re able to do it affordably—at about the price of fourth generation aircraft,” said Tom Burbage, Lockheed Martin executive vice president and general manager of F-35 Program Integration. “The program continues to make good progress both in flight test and production, with all test aircraft now out of the factory and the first international jets beginning to take shape.”

Throughout its life cycle, the F-35 will create enduring industrial relationships, from manufacturing and production to worldwide operation and support via Autonomic Logistics Global Sustainment (ALGS), Burbage said. F-35 ALGS, developed in parallel with the aircraft and its systems, defines the F-35’s total life-cycle sustainment system.

Thousands of people are employed in the F-35 partner countries, which have invested more than U.S. $4 billion in the project. Those countries – the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia, Turkey, Canada, Norway and Denmark– also stand to become more strategically aligned as each employs the same front-line fighter that brings unprecedented levels of interoperability.

Burbage also expressed increased confidence in the program, and acknowledged that most early challenges have been overcome. With more than 280 test flights completed, all systems operating in F-35 aircraft and laboratories, 19 aircraft delivered and 31 in assembly, the program is demonstrating steady progress. In the last few months, the first F-35C carrier variant flew for the first time, the first F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) variant completed short takeoffs and vertical landings and also flew supersonically, and both the F-35A and F-35B completed structural static testing in less than half the time of legacy programs.

The F-35 Lightning II is a 5th generation fighter, combining advanced stealth with fighter speed and agility, fully fused sensor information, network-enabled operations, advanced sustainment, and lower operational and support costs. Lockheed Martin is developing the F-35 with its principal industrial partners, Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems. Two separate, interchangeable engines are also currently under development: the Pratt & Whitney F135 and the GE Rolls-Royce Fighter Engine Team F136.
